Rattles in any form were popular from the beginning - they stimulated the grasp reflex, attracted by their sound and very soon they became also an efficient way of relief when teething. They usually had the form of a circle with rattling chambers or consisted of an acoustic part and a handle. In the Middle Ages and the modern era clay or, for example, also wicker was still popular among lower classes. However, in the upper classes rattles are already made from more precious materials - gold, silver with rich and costly embellishments.

Since the 17th century unique antibacterial properties of silver are valued and silver baby rattles become popular. However, we have devoted a separate blog to this passion of ours. The twentieth century is the era of plastics, industrial production and fast pace.
